PointFinder is a photo-based comparison tool. It uses submitted photographs and available scan inputs to generate candidate matches against catalog references. A result is not expert verification, authentication, appraisal, provenance, dating, or proof of origin.
The scan flow supports front, back, base, and additional-angle photos. Guided capture prompts for face, profile, and base views, which can show silhouette, notch type, flaking, stem form, basal features, thickness, edge bevel, and cross-section.
Catalog coverage and fields vary. Similar forms can occur across regions and time periods, and damage, resharpening, lighting, camera angle, and missing context can affect a comparison. Review alternatives rather than treating one label as conclusive.
Identification photos are sent for processing and are not shared publicly without consent. See the privacy policy for retention and deletion details. Use result feedback controls or contact support with corrections. Preserve context and review applicable collection rules before acting.
