01 / START WITH YOUR FIND

A photo opens the investigation.

Take a photo or choose one from your gallery to explore possible arrowhead IDs. Clear views of the face, base, and profile help you compare features.

02 / COMPARE THE DETAILS

Look beyond the first match.

Use the projectile point guide to compare shape, notches, base, material, and regional context. Read why a suggestion might fit—and where uncertainty remains.

03 / KEEP THE STORY

What to expect

  • Photo-based suggestions to investigate, rather than a guaranteed answer.
  • A searchable catalog of projectile point references.
  • Saved finds, photos, field notes, maps, and community tools.
  • Available Pro plans with prices and renewal terms shown before purchase.

A photo cannot establish authenticity, an exact age, or value. For consequential identification or authentication, consult a qualified specialist.

MAKE YOUR FIRST PHOTO COUNT

Three views. Better context.

  1. Photograph the face. Use even light and a plain background. Keep the whole object sharp and visible.
  2. Show the base and profile. Notches, the stem, base shape, and thickness can distinguish similar point types.
  3. Record what you know. Note measurements and the general region when appropriate. Compare the suggestions with reference traits before choosing a name.

Before you download

Can PointFinder identify an arrowhead from a picture?

PointFinder generates possible projectile point matches from a photo. Treat those results as suggestions, compare diagnostic features with reference material, and seek specialist advice when certainty matters.

Can I use it without an Android phone?

Yes. You can explore PointFinder on the web, including its reference guide and web scanner. The Android app is available through Google Play.

What works without internet?

The Android app includes installed reference content for offline reading. Photo analysis, community features, purchases, and some map content require internet. Download map areas ahead of an outing where supported; offline data does not provide live conditions.

Are all features free?

Some features require PointFinder Pro. Check the plan screen for current access, prices, and renewal terms before subscribing.

Does a map marker mean I can collect there?

No. A place appearing on a map does not grant access or permission to collect. Confirm landowner permission and current rules, and respect Indigenous cultural sites. PointFinder's maps are planning and reference tools.

Your next find deserves a closer look.
